ABOUT AMIE LEDFORD
People strive to find contentment with places and things, which are often used and then left behind – becoming a residue of human consumption and distant memories of the past. Gone is the simplicity of Americas’ past leisure activities. The images represented in Silent Spaces are of places and things no one can specifically recognize; yet all feel familiar. There is a sense of Americana as we remember the past and envision the future. The people that frequented these places have left a mark that can never be removed. The photographs explore a narration of how people have come and gone throughout time – forsaking their roles in caring for and preserving the land and forgetting the places and things that once brought joy and happiness to their lives. What remains is a longing for the yesterdays that weren’t so quiet and alone.
