ABOUT JUDIE JACOBS

The raw beauty found in nature has been the driving force of inspiration for Atlanta artist, Judie Jacobs. Through years of study and experimentation with various art materials including ceramics, oil painting and encaustics she has shared her vision of the ever changing landscape.

Combining a variety of media, the artist richly layers her work with materials incorporating imagery based on the natural beauty of the rural pastoral settings found in her travels to foreign shores and closer to home in Georgia and Tennessee. Many of her new works portray the disappearing rural buildings, barns and farmhouses in the Southern landscape.

Her most current work combines the ancient art of encaustic with modern digital imagery. Encaustic painting is rooted in a process dating back to the ancient Greek civilization that incorporates the use of hot wax and pigment binders.
