ABOUT RAE BROYLES
My landmark series is a reflection of the past with new energy infused into it. I have deep memories of country skyscapes from childhood. Some including barns, some just brushing fields. All scented with the air of turpentine as I watched my father paint his meticulous landscapes during the 1960’s and 70’s. My versions are contemporary with a pop-esque color palette influenced by Warhol. The encaustic wax media I use is also a tribute to an ancient art which has recently come back into the public art view.
